Glen Haven Engagement | Jake + Ashley

Ashley and Jake are one of our beautiful 2020 couples and we had so much fun at their engagement session a few weeks ago. After, my initial email to Ashley she emailed back saying that she had been talking with her fiancé and turns out that he knows me. Wait, what?! See Jake’s parents and I work together at my daytime job that I have worked at for several years. Plus, Jake had worked there for a few summers. Crazy how small this world is.

When Ashley first mentioned to me, she may want to photograph her engagement session on a beach, I knew it would be good. It’s no secret that I love beach sessions at sunset. The beautiful evening skies and that romantic peacefulness that is present is a photographer’s dream come true.  Ashley picked a location that was perfect for them. She wanted something charming and had the beach, and she found that spot. So, Brian and I traveled to Glen Haven, MI to photograph these two!! We have never been to that area and we are so glad we were able to and so thankful to Jake and Ashley who gave us the opportunity. It is so darn cute and has the perfect beachy charm about it, we just loved it!

We started in downtown Glen Arbor eating ice cream and enjoying each other’s company. These two are so sweet, loving, and down to earth. Ashley is energetic, outgoing and full of life. While Jake is a bit more shy, a bit more reserved, and the perfect complement to Ashley’s nature. She pulls him out of his shell, and he keeps her smiling as the minutes and hours tick by. But you can tell they just have this love that is gentle and captivating.

We then drove through the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive and made our way back to the beach. And we raced to the beach to get the sunset on the water, and we made it just in time. We took all these beach photos in about 20 minutes with the light we had left, and I love them!! I wish we lived closer to a beach at home, because there’s always such beautiful dreamy light and it’s a favorite place of mine to photograph.

Jake and Ashley thank you so much for the opportunity to document your love. It was such a joy being able to spend that evening in Glen Haven with the both of you, and you have us so excited for next summer. Until then enjoy some of our favorite!
